Fall River Is Hitting Its Stride This June

June has brought an excellent start to the 2026 Fall River season. While Mother Nature has certainly kept us on our toes—with everything from wind to sudden weather changes—the river has continued to fish well overall, rewarding anglers willing to adapt to the conditions.

The river is producing consistent PMD (Pale Morning Dun) and Callibaetis hatches, with some excellent PMD spinner falls early in the morning. Fish have now spread throughout the system, giving anglers opportunities from the upper reaches all the way downriver.

Upper River Continues to Produce and The Lower River Rewards Patience

The Upper Fall River has been the most consistent section of the river so far this season. Reliable afternoon hatches have kept fish actively feeding, creating excellent opportunities for anglers targeting rising trout with dry flies.

As always, timing and presentation make all the difference. Matching the hatch and making a clean drift has been the key to consistent success.

The Lower River has been a little more unpredictable. Some days require extra patience, but those willing to put in the time have been rewarded with exceptional fish. While the bite can be selective, the quality of trout coming from the lower section has been outstanding.

This time of year, it’s not unusual for fish to change their feeding windows with shifting weather patterns. Paying attention to changing light, insect activity, and water movement often makes the difference between a slow day and an unforgettable one.

Clear Water, Healthy Weed Growth, and Great Conditions

One of the biggest advantages this early in the season is the river’s condition. Water clarity remains excellent, and the weed beds are still relatively light, making boat positioning, presentations, and fish visibility much easier than they often become later in the summer.

With stable water conditions and healthy insect activity, everything points toward another productive month ahead on Fall River.
